Notification Laws Important in Daycare Abuse Cases

Three daycare workers in Ashburn, Washington were charged with not reporting to authorities when a teacher shook an infant at the center.

A witness reported the teacher at the Kinder Care Day Care Center and after an investigation, three managers were found at fault for having witnessed the occurrence without reporting it. This crime is classified as a misdemeanor and comes with a fine of up to $500.

The law states that these caregivers are obligated to report any sort of abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities. It is our opinion that anyone who witnesses this sort of behavior is under a moral obligation to report it to the proper child care services or law enforcement group.

Shaking toddlers is absolutely a crime and should not go unpunished. Daycare abuse is a serious matter and we must all do our part to put a stop to it.
