Daycare Abuse in Inver Grove: A man from Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota was sentenced to six months in jail last Friday for sexually abusing a girl in his wife’s home day care last summer. The girl was not even 3 years old. Christopher John Schneider, 48, was sentenced by a Dakota County District Judge who included 15 years’ probation and restitution.

Metzen stayed a three year prison sentence, which might be imposed if Schneider fails to abide by certain court orders, including the completion of sex-offender treatment.

According to the charges: On Aug. 13, 2008, the girl told a child protection worker that Christopher Schneider molested her. He was arrested later that day. According to investigators, he initially denied the contact but later admitted to it.

His wife, Deborah Schneider, 43, has been a licensed day care provider since October 1995, caring for children at homes in Inver Grove Heights and West St. Paul. During the time of the incident, she was caring for 14 different children ranging in age from 2 to 8.

Christopher Schneider had been unemployed for two years and was helping his wife take care of the children. The Minnesota Department of Human Services suspended Deborah Schneider’s day-care license and she has been charged with failure to report the abuse, a misdemeanor.
